All About Me

Hello!  My name is Jennifer Olson.  I have a BA in Elementary Education with a Minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls.  I taught at Small Wonders Preschool in Lakeville for 8 years before becoming a mom.  Once my oldest son was born, I was a stay at home mom.  Before taking the Kindergarten teaching position last year, I was busy volunteering here at All Saints School and substitute teaching K-8 as well.

My husband, Rich and I, have been married for 23 years (soon to be 24).  We live in Farmington with our three boys.  Griffin is 15 and is a sophomore at Academy of Holy Angels.  Logan is 13 (8th grader) and Colby is 8 (3rd grader) here at All Saints.

I enjoy spending time with my family, scrap booking, photography, watching my boys play baseball, gardening, cooking, and reading. When I was in Kindergarten I wanted to grow up to be a Kindergarten teacher!

The Donnelly Farm field trip on May 31 was a big hit with the Kinders!  Thank you to the Donnelly Family for inviting us to enjoy your farm!
Max, the reading therapy dog, came to kindergarten today for his last visit.  We have enjoyed reading to him all year long!  Today he brought each of us a book to take home to keep!  Thank you Max and Mr. Smith for letting us read to you this school year!  We will miss you!
During the month of February Kinders were challenged to each read 10 books.  We met our goal and that means we earned a pajama day at school!  Today was the day!

Our class will be in charge of the Mass on June 1st.  Every Kinder will do something at the Mass.  Some will read, others will do petitions, others bring up the gifts, etc.  You may want to plan ahead so you can come to Mass that morning.

We had two special guests today for group time!  Ben Jackson (5th grader at All Saints) and his grandma, Cynthia, planned three mini-lessons/stations to teach us more about magnets.  We learned that magnets attract and repel.  We were testing various items to see if they were magnetic or not.  We were allowed to explore a variety of magnets that they brought into our classroom.  It was a wonderful learning opportunity!  They gifted our class with a magnetic board that will allow us to explore more engineering ideas using magnets with magnetic gears, magnet tubes/balls and magnet ramps that can build a roller coaster.  We are truly blessed!
We did a Care-a-thon project today with the preschoolers.  We made cards and filled bags with treats.  These bags will be given to local police officers to thank them for keeping us safe.

Tomorrow morning is Morning with Mom!  Come to Murphy Hall starting at 7:30 to have a donut with your children. Then come up to the classroom to pray the rosary at 8:15. We will be finished by 8:30 so you can get on with your day and we can too!!

Students can be out of uniform tomorrow if they wear All Saints Spirit wear tomorrow.

We are hoping to catch the rest of the missing gingerbread cookies tonight.  The Kinders have done an amazing job designing traps to set up around the school to catch our cookies that have escaped from the oven!  If we can catch them all, we plan to decorate and eat them tomorrow!
Yesterday we went down to the middle school to join the 8th graders for Community Day. They helped us write letters to Santa!
